Recently announced at the Goodwood Festival of Speed – Forbidden Drives –  is a new TV Show hosted by Tiff Needell and Jonny Smith and will be available for streaming this Autumn writes Hannah Gordon

Whilst at the Goodwood Festival of Speed a new car show for petrol heads was being launched, Forbidden Drives is the upcoming series hosted by the on demand platform Motor Trend which was launched in the UK in April this year.

The new series will concentrate on cars that people want but can’t have, it highlights the point that not all cars are available to buy in all countries and that petrol heads across the world have longed for fast cars that just aren’t available where they live.

And who should be hosting such an exciting new show, none other than Tiff Needell and Jonny Smith, both formally from the hit car show Fifth Gear. Tiff Needell having started his career as a racing driver in the Grand Prix and Le Mans racing series he then went onto commentating and presenting, he was also part of the legendary Top Gear team. Whilst talking about the show he let us into a few insights

“ Forbidden Drives won’t just be about modern cars but also cars from the past which weren’t available worldwide”.

Jonny Smith the other half of the presenting team also carries a long history of octane infused jobs and enjoys nothing better than indulging in rare Japanese automobiles and electric powered drag cars, the pairing certainly have different opinions regarding electric and alternative fuels so it will be interesting to see what cars make it into the Forbidden Drives series.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed was a perfect opportunity for the launch of the new show and what could be more “quintessentially English than this Festival” Jonny added. The first episode was also filmed at the festival with the pair on the search for the greatest high powered European Estate.

The series will launch on Motor Trend on demand in September 2017.
