Twitter a decade on ….


We look back at which car companies were first to embrace twitter writes Geraldine Herbert

On March 21, 2006 Jack Dorsey sent the first tweet and ten years on some 500 million tweets are sent out each day, adding up to close to 200 billion per year. However Twitter is only number three in the social network charts and trails behind Facebook (1.5 billion) and Facebook-owned Instagram (400 million).


To celebrate ten years we look back on the first car manufactures to embrace life in 140 characters – Only one major car company, Ford, tweeted back in 2008 with another seven joining twitter in 2009. The rest have all followed over the past six years
