Thinking of buying a Van? Here are some ‘Van Buying Tips’ that you should bear in mind writes Suzanne Keane
Size – Overloading is both dangerous and illegal so work out the size of van you need. A good rule of thumb is to add 15 per cent more than you think you will need.
Space – What will you be carrying regularly and what is the biggest load you are likely to need to transport
Cost – Consider the price, finance and how close you are to the dealer
Access – Can a forklift truck get up to the loading sill? Rear or side doors should slide or fold back.
Colours – if you want a sign, check your company colours show up.
Servicing – Can the van be serviced out of working hours or can a replacement vehicle be provided.
Warranty – is it sufficient for the mileage/ length of time you want to keep the van?
Finally buying cheap doesn’t always pay. A huge discount, however tempting, will be reflected in the trade-in value.
